Weekend Special: Angels In The Drizzle

Weekend Special: Angels In The Drizzle

The urban drizzle falling gently, insistingly, apocalyptically and intermittently feels like a friend for some reason, someone I’m happy to show my face to, as if meeting with a thousand angels at one glance, each one dancing on the tiny droplets descending past my line of vision, jumping from one to another as they fall to the ground to maintain altitude at eye level where I can see them, or imagine I can see them, each one whispering by way of contribution to a semi-silent chorus of it’s alright, it’s alright, presumably in a bid to counteract the rising subliminal tension I’m perceiving in the air, possibly as a result, I muse, of the growing awareness that our species is currently officially consuming 25% more natural resources annually than we are able to replace.

The Great Bannister

The Great Bannister

Cascades, rapids and fallen trees threatened to bar my way as I drove the ridge of the holy hills of North London but I ploughed on through as the night sky lit up like a million flashlights and the thunder cracked like eight hundred and ninety thousand whips, thinking how seeing storms like this as a child I would just see a storm and now I see global warming – it’s all in the mind.

It’s important to practice your disciplines in earnest – it sets you free in some way.

In Your Living Room

In Your Living Room

If you were sitting in your living room and someone errantly drove one of the new breed of super-sports cars through it at 200 miles per hour, it would, no doubt give rise to quite a stir - even more so if someone lost control and flew a supersonic plane through it at a 1,000 miles per hour.
