It doesn’t matter how enlightened you get, it doesn’t matter how balanced you get, how calm you get, how serene you get or how wise you get. life is governed by the ever shifting dynamic of yin and yang, contraction and expansion. This causes things to get difficult.

The Fool in the tarot cards is similar to the Taoist ideal of the innocent sage – you’re without egocentric agenda. You are merely here to serve by enjoying being here and sharing it. To achieve this state, it comes down to being relaxed in your body, to being comfortable within your skin. So you relax your muscles and soft tissue, you slow down your breathing and raise your breastbone – just the tiniest, subtlest bit. You keep your back relaxed, don’t arch, yet very slightly raise just your breastbone and in that subtlest of movements, if you’re very sensitive, you’ll feel your spirit lift – you’ll feel as if you’re rising up to all that is beautiful in life.
For it is a choice you make. You can either allow yourself to be dragged down by the ugliness or you can make the slightest of movements and feel yourself rising up to all that’s beautiful in the world – and in yourself.
Rising up to all that’s beautiful, you add to that beauty with your own – you become beautiful – and so doing you increase the beauty for everyone – you make everyone around you feel beautiful, which in turn makes it all the more beautiful for you to be here.
May the beauty of you being here today, tonight, right through the weekend and way beyond, radiate far and wide and your blessings be multitudinous.
There’s nothing you can change either externally or internally to prevent the swing of life. The swing is essential – it’s part of the intrinsic mechanism that makes the world turn.
Life gets easy. Life gets hard. Life gets easy again and so on, in infinite cycles within cycles within cycles in a never-ending dance.
Without it you’d merely grow bored and fall asleep on life, thus depriving you of the joy of the miracle of it all. The swing, this dance, and the way it makes you variously feel, is what keeps you awake, what keeps you appreciating it all.
So give thanks for the swing – love it. You can’t stop it anyway, so you might as well love it and dance.
May you dance as if Fred and Ginger are making love in the soles of your feet.

Your purpose here, in case you’ve forgotten and have become momentarily glum, is to enjoy it. You are an expression and manifestation of life. When you’re enjoying being here, life is enjoying itself through you. Giving life more enjoyment is the highest service possible. The best way to enjoy it is
When you relax and ease off a bit, when you give life a bit of space to breathe, you gain enough distance to spot a discernable pattern to the way things are evolving. You learn to discern the innate dynamic between phases of contraction and difficulty and phases of expansion and ease – yin and yang. And you learn by and by to transcend preferences because you know that one phase automatically transforms into the other as soon as it gets too weighty. You can also discern a certain subtle force driving things on – this is the very same force as the vitality running through your own body and mind. That’s why the more you relax, the more this force can flow and the more energized you feel. The more energized you feel, the more you’re able to tune into the flow of events governing your life. Like that you don’t get so perturbed when things get scary, nor so elated when they go your way, as to lose command of your own centre. You are able to remain in a state of equanimity. You grow to identify progressively more with that within which simply bears witness as the drama of your life unfolds.
And may it unfold with utmost elegance, bringing you a shower of unexpected gifts and delights today.
Remain positively and respectfully expectant – trust the Tao to deliver. Trusting it, you also trust that when things seem to go against you making you question and doubt the validity of the manifesting process, these things are actually happening to accelerate the process, even though it often appears to be the exact opposite.
Under no account postpone your happiness till you get what you want – want what you have and what you are right now. Love this. Feel the joy in this – in what’s happening (or isn’t happening) now.
For as far as you actually know, this is all there is.
You really have no clue when your time will be up. You assume it’ll be far off in the future but it could be in the next second or the one after that.
Would you really feel good about it all, were you to reach that last breath and realise you’d deprived yourself of a lifetime’s worth of happiness waiting for something to happen? Of course not, so don’t delay feeling that joy right now – and the way is by relaxing into your body and being here.
This joy then serves as a buffer between your potential impatience and the actual process of manifestation that’s going on. A necessary buffer that prevents you disturbing the field and so messing up all the good work you’ve done so far.
Monday wish: suddenly all the joy you’ve been holding back on, arrives in your lap in one go.
The key to being able to relax enough to enjoy being here in the miracle of your life, a state you must reach before being able to manifest what you need, lies in letting go of the tension in your body and specifically in the muscles and soft tissue.
