Since the solstice, which for me as a Northern Hemisphere dweller by habit, is the obvious pivot point between one year and the next, it being the shortest day, after which the daylight hours increase, I’ve discerned a benign shift in the warp, weft and tonality of the world of function, and not, I believe, just on account of possible susceptibility to collective wishful thinking, nor either just subjectively: I’ve an intuition a sweeter fragranced breeze than hitherto has begun wafting through the general scheme of things, a breeze that carries the seeds of sanity and good sense, and plants them far and wide.
Nonetheless in honor of Julian and his calendar, which arbitrarily, and in my humble opinion, crudely and clumsily, plonks New Year’s eve on the 31st like this, a full ten days after the natural annual pivot point , I’m taking this opportunity - accuse me of crudely, clumsily flirting dilettante-like with Julianesque convention if you will - of wishing you a year ahead, which opens slowly like a golden lotus, revealing within the delicate silken folds of its petals and beneath its satin-like stamen-tips, the secret, sacred repository of all the blessings you’ve been so patiently, painstakingly awaiting all the while; that the benign hand of fate taps you thrice upon the forehead - precisely in the center of the front hairline, the acupressure point which when thus stimulated grants you command over your own destiny; that all you touch from now on turns to gold (or whichever precious commodity is currently closest to your heart); that all that was previously lost to you or taken from you unjustly is now restored, that your spirits (and inner confidence) fly unwaveringly high, steady and unfailing the whole ride through; and that it transpires to be by far the best orbit of the sun you’ve made in your life so far, in every way conceivable.
I wish this for you and for everyone.
And may the combined result be a gentle yet insistent collective mass-healing miracle of unprecedented epic scale and proportion.
I look greatly forward to being at your service in this respect to soften, ease, sooth, warm, colorize, and electrify your passage in 2013, as the bishop once said to the actress.
With love, BD
